Looking into what the audience wants from a superhero to help with my designs.

I know its my superhero but the audience are a major role in wether my superhero would take-off or fail so ive decided to ask what the audience would like to improve on my deisgns, ive started off by asking people how many questions they'd be prepared to answer on my questionnaire, most people said around ten and a few said upto fifteen and a couple said upto twenty. Ive decided ill go with around ten so more people will participate to get better answers and if i need to narrow down answers i can always make another.
My first question will definitely identify peoples age and gender as that will probably influence the answers they give. This has to come into mind because you cant just go with a girl or boys opinion.

Well thought i better get blogging and stop forgetting! My idea for my animation SuperHero Lair is to make it quirky like alot of different shapes and use texturing to make it look out there and stuff. Last week i had my first two seminars one starting with animation and a draweing lesson to start designing my superhero, my first animation lesson went well im definitely starting to understand it alot more than i used to and alot more comfortable with it, this week i am making my floor plan and i am starting to make my doorways/moving doors etc and hopefully a few objects for my rooms so next week i can learn to texturise etc! In drawing we drew things starting with shapes etc i have pictures of that to upload and i'll probably do that tomorrow, i wanna get on top of my character design and have a lot more research to do on it, better get on with it, keep you posted :]

Looking at the BBC interview tutorials.

Because we are making a short film about interviews, Phil shown us a few of these tutorials from the BBC so i thought it would be helpful to look at them myself also.

This interview shows things like shot size and framing etc and also how to set up the camera, this is also helpful because it teaches you wether your working in a team or on your own.

This video is very useful because it shows the importance of keeping the continuity of keeping all your shots the right way. Its called it crossing the line trying to keep it simple. This is a major part of how to make our video because if we didnt keep to this our audience wouldnt quite understand our film.

This video is about locations, how to set up, where to set up and the key things which need to be done. It shows how to use the light and how to achieve good sound.

Character profiling Deano and Julie.

Basically this is my take on character profiling for Deano and Julie. Just to show my take on character profiling.

Deano looks like an angry type person who is usually in a group. Usually alwyas getting together with all his other football following friends. He's also in
the pub quite alot. He is always in his football shirt when out of work. He works as a builder. He loves and collects gadgets abit like Del-boy off, Only
fools and horses.
Julie on the other hand is out-going, likes to have all her girl friends round, party alot, shop alot, altogether a proper girly girl. She knows most of
their children, who are 11-13's parents. She is always wanting her husband to do more, particularly to show off, such as decorate the house, especially with
decorations at christmas, halloween, new year. There's has to be the best. Everything has to be good enough for celebrities on a low level budget of course.

Together they are the lead couple at the pub, everyone is their friend. They are a great on-show couple except of course when they get home. When they are at
home alone they argue and bicker almost all the time. They argue over money worries the most, him being messy and messing up her glamourous house and how
much she spends on a day to day basis.

I could see this as a comedy series following this couples very comedic and humorous life. It would go from you seeing them at college and just after which
is when they got together. They got together by always being together at college, they never really got along proper but they always said if they ended up
alone they'd get together, they both went on dates but each got jealous and put eachother off the other person. And here there are around 25 years later.
Still not getting along properly but getting by, there love will always be there for eachother.

This is an establishing shot, to show the location where we was working, this is a good shot except the man walking through the middle, this could be used however if the man was a part of what we was doing but he isnt. We then took another shot like this but without the man in it. This is the shot below.

This is the same shot as above just without the man walking through. I like this shot because it sets the scene, it has a good depth of field and the colours show autumn well. The shade and light also work well.

This next shot is a long shot of the person being interviewed. This shot looks clear and works well however phagun looks more like a presenter because she is stood in the middle of the shot and is looking straight into the camera where as an interviewee should be more to one side and looking from either left to right or right to left, this helps the audience realise it is an interview and feel more a part of the conversation.

This is a medium shot of the interviewee as we have now established who the interviewee is, i dont really like this shot because i think it should be abit higher up so the hands aren't in the shot. The hands can get a bit wavey and distract the viewer and they can also go in and out of the shot which can confuse the viewer. Again the interviewee should be to one side and looking side on to the camera.

This is a better medium shot of the interviewee. The hands are now out of the shot and the audience will find it easier to watch. The face is clearly in focus and the background looks interesting and not all one depth.

This is a close up shot of the interviewee, this could mainly be used to show emotion, as you can see she is very happy. I think the shot should be a little further zoomed out to give her abit more headroom. Also the flowers in the background look a little bright, i think i could change this by playing with the iris etc.

This was the first establising shot where the interviewee walked into shot, i think its a little bit zoomed out but it could work well.

All in all i think our shoot and practise with the camera went well and we got quite a few good shots if the interviewee was in the right position it would have been alot better. For this i have looked at a few interview technique video's from the BBC that phil shown me in a lesson.

Ive not blogged in a while and have a lot to upload cause ive done quite abit in this last week, but today i am going through editing material and teaching myself new edits and getting used to editing as i will be editing my short film in about a weeks time. Our short film will need a flashback and an interview feel so for this ive thought of black and white blurred edges etc and i am currently working on what looks best and most realisitic. I am working on footage we took last week through getting used to using camera's.

Finally i have three practicioners, all though they may change when ive done alot of background research.

My first practicioner is Kim Turberville, she has her own production company called Indigo. She makes things like the NTA's and worked alongside Billy Connely on his shows. She's an inspiration to me as she made it from here, Nottingham. She is my aunty and all though i hardly ever see her, im so proud she's an independant woman who's made it into the business and has made it for herself. She has worked with royalty and many other celebrities and can now work all over the world.

My second practicioner is Salvador Dali, he was an artist/director/producer a complete clown to some but to others a change in history. I wold love to be an all rounder, being a producer/director and other things. His artwork attracts me strongly. Also his film is known all over for being very controversial. I would like to be able to make an image like him however not as controversial.

My third practicioner is Edward Gordon Craig, he changed image for theatre etc. I found out about him on our day trip to London. He also made a mark on history, he was also an all rounder producing and directing.

I am still doing research on all these three and I am really enjoying what im finding.

Optimisation

Well cant say i understand every word but i understand the jist of it. Just playing with it abit to make it more clear, ive realised that if a image is dithered it makes it a larger file size, PNG has alot more colour selection and JPEG is the normal save although when zoomed in it can blur alot etc. Ive downsized a JPEG 300 DPI file to see the change in quality, i will put it below.

As you can see it is slightly smaller but now it is only 14.79k where as it was 42.93k. It was 2126 pixels wide by 1535 pixels high but now is only 1063 pixels wide by 768 pixels high.

Well ive been reading through the NOW alot as i missed todays lesson as i am ill, yet AGAIN! My immune system really is as weak as the doctor says. Gonna do som drawings for my layout, hopefully they go right. Also this week im hoping to finalise my threee practioners fro my visual essay to find more info on them in the future weeks before i make my essay. As i forgot to upload it i thought i would now, its made of pictures that show certain parts of me or catch my eye. there are blank bits, they are to show the certain times in life my mind goes blank, as thinking about what shows me. I love pink and i am very girly, i chose this is a background to show this. Shoes, what girl doesnt like shoes? i dont think i need to go into that. A rainy day, everyone has one sometimes. Sunsets, these inspire me as they are one of the most beautiful sights to see, and no matter where you are you can always see it. Buttterflies show grace and partnership along with the holding hands and the doves. Dafodils are very special to me, as my great grandad is welsh, my name is also welsh and i love going to wales. These are the flower of Wales and my great grandad loved them, he grew his own and also bought them every year. As he also passed away at easter when there in season its always a beautiful reminder of his life. The photo of Twiggy shows photography and she is also a role model, she set a new style and is still going now. I also have a bob like hers. The peace sign, is after all what most people in the world want, equality and world peace. If only right? The theatre faces, as i love shows, the mise en scene the hole coming together of it all, i thought this picture related to this very well. The Marylin Monroe pop art, she's beautiful and a complete icon! Pop art is also a big part or the art history, i like art and trying new things and all the different colours. This suits my mood as i can vary my mood alot. Last but not least, Hello Kitty. I adore Hello Kitty and have for a while its so simple but cute and very girly.

Well ive found a sheet with twelve principles of effective design, it says what to avoid but thats what to go through once ive got my ideas.

number 1: Define your criteria and strategies for success:
The Hire me Portfolio: Well every person wants to be hired including me and a well working website is certainly going to help me get there. I just need to make sure it shows all my best work prominently and maybe a few other pieces to show me and progression not so prominent.
The Sales Generation Portfolio: Websites can sell who you are, make them want to buy an idea if i make an amazing idea etc.
A Reputation building Portfolio: A good reputation can get someone from the bottom to the top, the more you do good jobs for people the better you can expand. This can mean you always have something to do for someone as they know they can rely on you.
The Networking Portfolio: This means more people see your work through reccomendations and this means you can branch your business out. Also finding new people to work with always gives you better experience in the field.

Number 2: Consider using multiple portfolio's:
This is to maybe show off different outlets of work or show your work to different communities. This might help me if im applying to a certain company as this shows dedication and you want the job. However for now as I'm not a professional and just starting out i think ill just stick with one.

Number 3: Target Your Market:
I really need to decide my style and who i am trying to aim my work at.

Number 4: Usability the top priority:
Navigation: this is what can let anyone down, all i have to do is learn it all right i hope. this is more doing wrong than what i need to do right.

Number 5: Utilize technology:
Dont use technology your not trying to promote. Make it easy to update your website as you can update it more often.

Number 6: plan everything out.
Make sure i have enough time for everything i want to do.

Number 7: narrow down my best work.
This wont be hard as i dont have much but ill have to make sure i keep updating my website when i have better work.

Number 8: Provide Adequate Contact Information, Documentation, and Explanations:
confidently state everything i did like im coding my website but if i have someone else do something state that. Also do this through case studies. When i can get references from work ive done use them.

Number 9: Present work within the confine of my goals:
Make sure my design doesnt over power my work, my work should always be confident and shown off. Make it stand out, definitley from other peoples.

Number 10: Infuse your personality into my design:
I have to make sure people know this is my work, make my profile look like my profile so people are sure its my work and they remember it. Also make it stand out.

Number 11: Promote my portfolio:
Whats the point in having a portfolio ive worked so hard on if its not going to be seen? there isnt. Include my portfolio on any website/community i use.

Number 12: My long term goals:
as it says on the work sheet
"Putting it all together: a successful portfolio finds that perfect blend of your
personality, prominence of work, simplicity, and ease of use that makes your portfolio
stand out from the crowd and achieve your goals."
Looking towards the future always keep this in mind to show where you want to go and so you keep going and keep up with the times.

Evaluation on my first carousel, film.

Well for my first design process 2 carousel I was in film. We were given the task interpretation where we was given the script "Ticket."
I was the Producer, which means I had to be organised and keep on everybody to make sure everything was being done. The group were amazing to take on tasks and always wanted to be doing something that needed to be done. As I gave out the roles I found everyone snapping them up leaving me twiddling my thumbs finding something to do. I always did though as there is a never ending list to make a film. I made quite a few timetables and task lists, I made sure the group had each others numbers etc. I also always messaged round reminders of; filming times, meetings, what people were doing and making sure everything was on schedule. The best thing I invested in was a diary for this year, as a producer has to be more organised my diary helped me a lot more than I thought it would. Making set dates for things also works a lot better than saying yeah next week.
Our pre-production process went quite well we kept to schedule and most of the time ahead of our schedule. The only thing I think that could of gone better was better detail on the script, when we pulled it together at editing we realised there wasn't a full story that made full sense to the viewer. I think a difference in editing could solve this. As I re-edit my own version, I will make it more of a full story maybe go out and film more shots to fill in the gaps, or make it into a silent film inspired by old black and white films, more research will take part before I do this though.
We couldn't keep to the script except dialogue, this was because we couldn't film on a tram/bus so we tried to integrate this by making it look like she had been on a tram by using tram tickets and a shot of a tram going past. The only way this could be better is if we had a while longer, we could then have got permissions to film on a tram or bus, or arranged something to work around this. I think this would have maybe brought the story together more.
I think this filming carousel will help me a lot in the future as I have kept a close eye on everything that has gone wrong and what could be better, and the process, what more needs to be done and how to keep people together. I think at the beginning I was a bit shy of taking control of the group and asking them to do what needed to be done. However I think towards the end I was a lot more assertive as Deborah told the hole group what was needed of me. This made me feel I was doing it right when I was assertive and making arrangements. For a better experience next time I am going to ask people in my group what they thought of my skills as a producer and for some constructive criticism on what I can do better next time. This was my job and as I want to do it when I am older I will become more strong at this role.

From alot of the posts it looks as though it hasnt been updated sice aroung 2008/2009. I think it is quite plain but quirky. I like a few things he has on there but not all of them are for me.
I like a sayign he has on there "...reason you're not doing it is NOT because you realised it was WRONG it's because you realised it was UNPOPULAR. Don't get me started..." this is meaningful to alot of people who arent true to themselves but are to the public.
I like the layout as it was easy to use however it was quite plain.

We also need to figure out the hole story/point of our video and to do this its going to be a more visual piece.
I think im going to start my own edit now too might make a couple different oens to use in my presentation, also im going to look through interactive space and animation maybe to help myself before i get there as there not generally my strong point.

Were pretty much on schedule and doing quite well, we just need to get our sound prepped and our rough edit done. For next week we can do our final edit and add everything we need to.

For my storyboard i am going to draw it out in rough by hand then try and make it on frameforge.

For planning this week as i have to keep organised of the group i have took the groups work and put it on my blog to keep it all together, and easy for the rest of the group to find. On Thursday we will check if we have all done our tasks and what other tasks need to be done and be assigned to people. We also need to make a shooting schedule for next week as we are starting to record on the Wednesday. :)!

Over the past two weeks I have researched sound design and thought about what techniques we could use within our film called 'Ticket'. Our film is about a girl (Lisa) who seems to sit at a bus stop/bench for a long period of time day after day. Then one day a boy (Sam) starts talking to her and she seems to know a lot about this boy. So, overall we have decided that Lisa's character is quite shy, quirky but intelligent and Sam's character is quite popular and out going. The main ambience we want to create for the audience is romance, however we want to make sure it keeps the viewers interested throughout. An idea I have for this is flash-backs of her or his past which shows why they have opposite personalities or even flash-backs to how Lisa knows so much about Sam.

As I am the sound designer, I have been looking into what sounds would suit the type of mood we want to create. Sound is ideal, as it is an important factor to create the atmosphere. Since romance is our focus point, I have looked at music from other films used to set the mood.

I would also like to create synchronous sound effects such as, the sound of opening a fizzy drink I.E. recorded the sound separately and overlay onto the film. Another idea is, Lisa or Sam might have earphones in their ears listening to music. Therefore the music could be edited onto the film so the audience can hear what he or she is listening to. It could then possibly flip to the other person talking, which means you would hear the music only slightly and hear the other person speaking. These are all synchronous effects. Asynchronous sound effects could be used when Lisa is sat on the bench I.E. traffic noises, as though it would be coming from where the camera is filming.

I have been assigned to write a sound treatment for my role as the sound designer. I have many ideas for the sound, however when we plan the scenes out clearly I will be able to write a description on the sound techniques scene by scene, as it depends on the location. In our group discussion on Friday (21stJan), we will plan out a detailed plan of each scene and give every member of the group a copy, which then means I can get started on practicing recording sounds and using the equipment.

I have researched my role as a sound designer for our short film. I used filmsound.org to research and learn my own understanding of sound. They are mainly broken down into three main areas these are:

sound effects, music and dialog.

Sounds Effects

Synchronous and asynchronous sounds are used within sound effects.

Synchronous means sounds are synchronized to what is happening within the film. Its basically a combination of visual and sound working together on screen. For example, sounds might be recorded separately for parts of a scene and then edited to increase or decrease the pitch of the sound. I.E. door creak, to create the mood of the film and keep the audience interested. A door creak may make the audience feel anxious and fearful to what might happen next.

Asynchronous means more or less the opposite to synchronous. Sound effects would be used that do not match what is on screen. It makes the audience visualise what might be happening in the background of the film (which is not on screen). For example, a couple might be talking in a kitchen in the house and throughout, sound might be used such as an ambience sound that is coming from outside on the street, but the focus is on the characters reaction in the 'kitchen'.

So, I think synchronous and asynchronous would work nicely within our work and I will look further into them both before filming. They would work well braking down the awkward parts during the film, as we have planned to make the connection between the two characters quite uncomfortable. Camera techniques could also be used to grab the audiences attention.

Music

Music is used to set the mood of the scene to keep the audience interested, link to different scenes and to make the audience feel emotional.

Certain short sounds and music can be recognised that relates to a certain action or film. For example, when we here 'durdum durdum' (If you get the gist) we automatically think of sharks swimming in the water I.E. The film, Jaws. Another example would be Randy Newman who sings 'You've got a friend in me', everyone who here's this song would most likely think of the animated film Toy Story, as it is the theme song. This is also popular in the public eye, which makes the music familiar.

This is something to think about when making sound for our film. Even little effects like the 'durdum durdum' makes the audience feel the mood you are trying to create because they can relate to the sounds.

Dialog

Voices can be heard throughout a a film using many different techniques.

One technique is called voice over, usually abbreviated VO in scripts. Voice over is a narrative commentary or concept used over visuals in a film or advert. This means you cannot see the person speaking, you can only hear them. A good example of this is commercials

Dialog is not always used whilst filming on set. Some dialog is recorded off location and put onto the film when editing. When film making, they sometimes shoot silent, MOS (Motion Omit Sound) which means the crew can film without being perfectly quite. It might also be used in case of background noises on location. Therefore the dialog would be recorded in a studio/booth. Although a highly directional microphone can be used to control the sound on location.

Sometimes when dialog editing, it is common that the editor might use a word in the dialog to complete another, if it was distorted in anyway.

Dialog in film is important to make sure it is clear throughout any film. I think this will be the most difficult part of sound and I will need to practice with the equipment before filming. Yet, it is recommended to record dialog when filming on a external location.

Ticket (short film) character description

From looking at the script and reading it intently I have managed to draw up a series of similarities and differences for the characters which have help me draw up an accurate description of them:

Character one: Lisa
1. Is a young girl who is aged between 17 to 19 years ol
2. Comes across quite independent and strong minded
3. Wants to be considered as mature adult rather than a young one
4. Seems to have a quirky personality
5.Is quite fourth coming with her opinions and isn't afraid to be heard
6. Appears to know quite a lot about another character known as Sam
7. Could have obsessive tendencies
8. Can be quite provoking with what she is saying and body language
9.Appears to have a keen interest in Sam

Character Two: Sam
1. Is a young man in his early 20s
2. Is very confident within himself
3.Can come across as cocky and a bit of a know it all
4. Also is quite fourth coming a quality that Lisa has too
5.Seems to have a keen interest in Lisa
6. Is currently in a relationship
7.Has a job but not specified whether it is full-time or part-time
8.Could be seen as a typical young man in his 20s and can come across as somewhat carefree

Camera Techniques and terminologies

Here are some lighting and camera techniques which I have researched for my assigned role as camera & lighting:

Camera Techniques for research

Spin look:

The camera spins around an actor to get a glimpse of what he or she is looking at. The camera may also begin by viewing the object then spin back around to view the character.

Also the spin look is an alternative to the popular technique of “ Cutting away” when a character looks off-screen.

Track through solid:

A film maker can use track through solid to give the appearance of tracking through a solid object.

Jump cut sequence:

A jump cut sequence is a specific type of montage sequence in which jump cuts are used to show similar actions occurring over a short period of time.

Multi-taker:

A multi-taker refers to a single action that is repeated several times, from different angles and differences. The audience sees the same actions occur, usually about two to three times. This adds dramatic impact to the scene.

Cut zoom in:

Cut zoom in is a technique that adds emphasis to another wise static shot. This technique usually has three stages, a very wide shot, a wide shot and finally medium shot.

Dolly:

Dolly is a very natural technique the camera simply moves horizontally through space. The energy of this technique is similar to a personal walking or riding on a moving platform a wheelchair for example. To conceptualise a Dolly, turn your head towards what you are interested in.

Lighting terminology/techniques

Obie

Is a small spotlight that was created by cinematographer Lucien Ballard in 1908-1988 for the film The Lodger which was shot in 1944, it was designed to help to conceal actress Merle Oberon facial scars.

Fill light

Is a light placed to the side of the subject to help fill the shadows and balance the key light.

Tungsten

Tungsten can be a light from an ordinary light bulb which contains a thin coiled tungsten wire that has become incandescent when an electric current has been passed along it. Tungsten colour temperature is around 2800k to 3400k.

Key light:

This type of light focuses on the subject in question and provides the most illumination along with contrast.

Reflective light

Is a light that can be seen after having bounced off a surface.

Treatment for Short Film
Title of Short Film: Ticket

Outline of Ideas: A short film with two characters exploring relationships/interaction/communication. Aim to make the camera work/editing of a high skill exploring a variety of techniques. So the group can reflect skills with camera work. To carry out the same high skill with sound editing and creative ideas. Idea to incorporate the public into the film to give it a sense of VERISIMILITUDE. We will be filming outside Victoria bus station maybe on a bench. Also may change script slightly. Because the film will be around three minutes we are aiming to carry out a professional outcome.

Resource list: Camera woman 1 and 2, lighting woman, director, producer, sound engineer, two characters, video camera. A set time without being in a rush. No real props needed apart from bus ticket.

Justification of ideas in relation to chosen genre and existing texts
To reflect how time passes away in the film, we will fast-forward some of the footage whilst people are walking past in the mise-en-scene whilst keeping the main character perfectly still. The character Sam wil be quite a cool, loud good looking guy. Lisa is more fragile and shy. She acts as though she has a secret. Sam likes this and seems very interested. We will be using detail on how people interact with one another without using so much dialogue, paying special attention to eye contact and pace of movement in the film.

Strengths: Knowing the characters, location is local having the correct amount of time. Not needing so many props using natural settings. We can visit there before and make notes on more ideas.

Weaknesses: Not knowing if the people in our group have been provided the correct roles and so we all have to work together on this one. The weather could also be an issue since we will be filming outside so will be more of an inconvenience if it rains/snows or is very cold.

Conclusion: I think our film will work well making sure we are organized and have researched adequately in preparation to film.

Producer: is me :)! i am going to be the producer as this is what i want to do when i am older. I find it quite easy to organise post production and get everything ready. Im used to doing this on my own so having a group is nice :).

Alex is the director, Alyssa is doing sound and production design, Sam is going to be doing the editing, Steph is on the camera and our new edition Lauren will be doing lighting and camera assistant.

Todays and yesterdays session have gone quite well, last night each one of us wrote down ideas and discussed them today. We have a lot of strong ideas and are quite certain as a group on what we want. For thursdays presentation I am going to be storyboarding the idea and locations. We just need to see if we can film on a bus/tram! So right now im going to get on with my storyboard :)!

Well i'm trying to keep organised this year so thought id do my blog asap while the films still in my brain etc (:
I found the film quite interesting however it does leave you in a bit of a daze. The narrative is chronological which makes it easy to follow. There's alot of scenes that are linked by telling them what they need to do etc. This all makes it easier to follow except when it finishes andit all clicks in you start questioning the whole film.
I think the film is quite interactive as all the way through it is teaching you more and more, until the end when you know everything you need to know and understand the gaming concept.
The game and real life converge blurring what you have learnt as fact and fiction leading you to question all of what you have learnt to be fact and fiction. The film was futuristic and at times a bit gory with the pods being blood and guts and ripped apart, wierd animals being killed and holes being put in your spine, not very good if your squeamish but i found it rather interesting.

Well, we've changed our idea. We've chose to do it from a dogs perspective moving round the arboretum and seeing lots of things that go on. It starts with myles going to stroek the dog and dropping his ipod for the music for the rest of the film. then the dogs see's other things that are happening like an argument between two boys in the bridge. people walking past etc. The at the end the dog runs off when it is shoo'ed away by one of the people arguing. We have to keep the camera moving as we can only use one movement and we have decided we are going to attatch the camera to a skateboard to make it like a dogs level. We've been out and took some shots of what you can see from the dogs level to plan what we can have happening and where throughout the shot. We need to plan it specifically and take quite a few takes to get it pefect and everyone at the right time. We just need to remember to wrap up warm :)!

Well our main idea as a group was to use the camera as a humans view point. The human would be a wierd man and you would see peoples reaction to him. The camera would either zoom out or pan following people who are a little worried by the way they think he is. We was hoping to add rewinds etc to make it look more creative and technical. Tbh i think its a strong idea and i think we're gonna have a lot of fun making it.

This may sound general but I chose to research Google. For example who came up with the idea to create a source that can search almost anything? How long has things like this been running? Why are there so many search engines yet non ever takes over google?

Through research I learnt that Google is a play on the word googol which means a very large number which makes sense as Google stores a very large number of sources, facts, pictures and websites etc.

Google only began in January 1996 as a research project of Larry Page, who was then joined by Sergey Brin. “Their search engine was originally nicknamed "BackRub" because the system checked backlinks to estimate a site's importance.”

Yahoo became before Google as there is history before the makings of Google, and it is known that if Bill Gross hadn't made Yahoo there may have never been Google. Even though Yahoo came before Google, it is still peoples top choice, some people say this is because it is easier to use.

My Design Process

Briefing -

Firstly I receive my assignment brief. I then read it thoroughly and go through it for the main points to make ideas on and get to know what I have to do. If I am in a group I would meet with my group and have a group meeting about ideas etc.

Planning -

When I worked on my own for example my HMV project for college, I did a lot of research on the company e.g. designs, colours and unique selling points. However when I was working in a group for example my Lady GaGa music video, we did a lot of background research on design, costumes overall look and what we would need to do for the video to run smoothly. For example more schedules props enough shots.

Market Research -

Carrying on with my HMV idea, I then did a few questionnaires to make background research on what the customer would want from HMV and how it could be made better, also what could be improved. On the Lady GaGa research you only had to look at all GaGa's fans to see she was doing something right and she wouldn't be the same if we was less drastic than she was.

My Design -

I then created my design, I used a lot of pictures making sequences to make a simple advert. This would be using colours for representation. For example HMV would be pink.

Or Lady GaGa we took her Music Video, “Bad Romance” took the shots out of the video and designed our way of making it.

Evaluation -

I then looked at my products thoroughly to see what could have been improved and where my process could of worked better. This then helping my process if I do it again.

Throughout the process of making my advert I kept all my work in a folder and checked I had everything and that all of it was up to date every time I finished a section.

My Lady GaGa project was harder to keep under management because of all the shots and making sure we has everything together. Trying to keep the group together, their parts of the work and communicating any problems or solved problems.

For our induction, we created whiteboard animations. Our group started making the box idea but then decided on another idea. Our idea is the kettle one. WE make a cup of tea however half way through we decided to make it more creative so we made our milk into superhero milk and then at the end they all danced. We tried other things for example a real hand holding the spoon or katie drinking the tea.

This is a sequence where you can choose what happens like picking yes or no.

I used a female sign for the females and a male sign for the males to keep it simple and easy to follow.

The story begins with a woman finding a male attractive and whistles.

The man walks over to the woman.

Now you choose does the male stand the woman up or do they go on another date?

He says "Hi im Scott, nice to meet you."

She says "Oh, hi im Lilly. Nice to meet you too."

To the left is if the male stands her up, and to the right is if they go on a date.

He says "Would you like to dance?"

She says "Urm, sure."

The story carries on from them going on a date because when he turned her down the story ended.

At the end of the date the couple speak.

1 year later...

He asks her to marry him.

Does she say yes and let their relationship continue or end it and leave him in tears?

They both go to pick a wedding ring together.

He says "Pick your favourite."

At the wedding...

The happy couple then consumate their marriage...

Theres a shock for the couple!

Shes pregnant and the couples estatic.

She has the baby and its a little girl.

Theres another shock!

Pregnant again!

This time its a little boy.

The family buy a dog for their house with their kids and live as a little family, happily ever after.

Creating sequences.

In this blog i have been creating three sequences which all show different things, my first sequence is a picture of a tree using different exposure.

For my second sequence i used a passing of time using photos of my cousins from whent they was born, to growing older.

For my last sequence i made cakes, i used alot of close ups to keep it simple and to the point.

In conclusion i learnt that sequences usually are easier to follow when they are simple.
